Neck Lumps & Swellings
Gardan Mein Gaanth · Cervical Lymphadenopathy · Neck Mass PatnaA lump or swelling in the neck is one of the most common reasons patients visit our Raja Bazar ENT clinic. The majority of neck lumps are reactive lymph nodes — enlarged due to a nearby infection such as tonsillitis, dental infection, or ear infection — and resolve once the primary infection is treated. However, a neck lump that persists for more than 2 weeks, is painless, progressively growing, hard, or accompanied by voice change, swallowing difficulty, or weight loss requires urgent evaluation. Neck lumps can also arise from the thyroid gland, salivary glands, congenital cysts (branchial or thyroglossal), or — importantly — lymphoma or metastatic cancer from a primary site in the head and neck. Dr. Abhinandan performs thorough clinical examination and arranges appropriate investigations including ultrasound and FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology) for accurate diagnosis.
